This Strategic Direction speaks to our Theory of Change commitments which will broaden the change outcomes we can achieve to include systems, policy and broader social change related to GBV. Working with survivors of violence, sister shelters, networks and community organizations, allied social justice movements, the North York and donor community, policy tables and funders, NYWS can come into its own as a leader in new approaches to anti-violence work, transforming both our work and the world around us. As an ARAO trans-inclusive shelter in an environment of increasing backlash and hate, NYWS has a critical perspective to share. Building on our potential as a community hub, NYWS can advance policy changes that directly improve conditions for survivors and the GBV sector more broadly.
